When installing WIndows Server 2003 R2 86/64 bits onto Dell PowerEdge 2950, OS installation cannot find the hard disk.

Issue
   1. When I attempted to install Windows server 2003 R2 86/64 bit, during the OS installation screen it did not detect the virtual hard disk that was created in the RAID controller.

Reason
   1. Windows server 2003 does not recognize the PERC 5/i(which I have on Poweredge 2950) Controller.

Solution
  1. Download USBKeyPrepF6 utility from ftp://ftp.dell.com/utility/USBKeyPrepF6A08.exe and install it onto your computer.

2. Download the PERC 5/i controller drivers and extract it to the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\USBKeyPrepF6\Files

3. Run the USBKeyPrepF6 application and click Prepare (Make sure to insert your USB stick for the prep).

Note: Should have USB 4GB or less, I don't know if 16GB,32GB or 64GB will work but you can try.

4. Run the WIndows server 2003 OS installation adn at very beginning it asked to press F6 for RAID controller, Press F6 and load the PERC driver and then the Virtual Hard drive will show up for installation.
