Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R3: Restore job from USB


Create restore job from USB(USB had the c drive & system state of BACKOFFICENW backup already)

 

1.       First you need to make sure the server being restored has OS installed & Backup Exec remote for Windows and able to communicate with the Media server. Also the USB is mounted to the media server by
a. USB=> VERITAS=> B2D => Delete Changer.cfg & Folder.cfg files
(leave the B2D fiels alone!_
b. Devices=> Configure devices assistant => Removable Backup-to-Disk Folder => Give it a name and point it to the USB stick drive letter. And finish. Changer.cfg & Folder.cfg files will be recreated and B2D files will show up under Devices of the Removable Backup-to-Disk



 

2.       Open Backup Exec 2010 R3 on Backup Exec 2010 Media server=> Restore

3.       View by Resource => Tick the system state & C drive that you wanted to restore.



 

4.       Device: Point to the source disk that contains the restore information

 


5.       File Redirection: tick Redirect file sets, click the browse icon, Restore target => Windows Systems => BACKOFFICENW-Rec => C drive => Click OK.
please select the restore server accordingly

 


6.       General: Give it a Job name so you know what the job is, click Run Now.

 


7. The job should show up under Job Monitor
